HOW TO MINGLE IN A GATHERING AS AN INTROVERT

Introverts generally are people that tends to shrink from social contacts and become preoccupied with their own thoughts. Most introverts dread the thoughts of walking up to people and start making small talks.

So I have like 5 tips to follow on how to mingle in a gathering…

1. REDUCE ANXIETY

Just to curb your anxiety do try to stay rational and also positive

2. CHANNEL YOUR CURIOSITY

Introverts most times tend to be curious. Learn to channel your curiosity into small talk.

E.g when asked “how has life been?” or “how are you?” approach the conversation with genuine interest. Careful listen to the other person, be free with your words and provide thoughtful responses

3. ASK QUESTIONS

Introverts feel reluctant to disclose much about themselves and they feel uncomfortable being in the spotlight. So how can you start conversation and keep them flowing? Just ask questions(don’t do too much though). But in so doing you are already building your comfort level

4. ADD LITTLE JUICY TIDBITS

It is not advisable to provide one-word, close responses; these cut the conversation short. Rather embellish your response

E.g Question: “how are you?”

Short response: fine

Better response: I’m actually good just feeling happy it’s the festive period

5. RECOGNIZE CUES

Introverts are sometimes misunderstood. People interpret their reserved nature as being snobbish. As an introvert learn to respond to conversation appropriately.

For example, if the other person seems taken aback by your reserved nature, just smile and express enthusiasm in the conversation.

I hope these little tips helps someone
